F.A.Q.  [ Frequently Asked Questions ]

Q: Where did the Bench come from?
A: A few years ago, the guys who run Penny Arcade created the site as a sort of experiment. The site was hugely popular, but due to some issues at the time, the PA guys couldn't host it any longer, so I took it on.

Q: Where the hell has the Bench been for the past couple years??
A: Online and offline intermittantly. You'd be surprised how hard it is to find a hosting service at the right price.

Q: I submitted a comic, but it wasn't posted on the site - why?
A: There could be a number of reasons for this. First off, it's possible I did not get the email (that does happen sometimes). It is also possible your strip contained offensive content - the only strips that get censored are those which contain either a) pornography, or b) content which under current western law could be construed as Hate Crime (ie. racist remarks, etc). The last possible reason is that your strip was outside our specified guidelines - but in that case I will typically email you and ask you to correct it then re-submit.

Q: Will you be adding new features such as strip ratings, search functionality, etc?
A: Yes indeed - all that and more are going to be coming online very shortly - stay tuned!

Q: How come none/some/all of the links in the news archive are broken?
A: Couple reasons for that - the main one being that when I uploaded Tycho's old news posts to this new site (after going through years of old emails), the strips he referenced on the original thebench.org site had different strip numbers than the numbers they were assigned when I built this new site. It couldn't be helped, unfortunately - personally I'm just glad we can still read the old news posts, myself!
